Get to Know Us

This is my beautiful family, and I'm here to share with our amazing story of how we came to be. We've had many struggles, triumphs, tribulations, and down right inspiring moments and were going to share them all with you! So, let's quickly rewind, shall we?
It was my 15th birthday and my mother came home from a doctor's appointment with the diagnosis of stage four terminal breast cancer. My life shattered, and I somehow started along the path of an Eating Disorder. Sweet 16 rolls around and my beautiful mother became my guardian angel on November 2, 2008. She had joined my sister up in Heaven who passed away when I was merely 4 years old. So 16 sucked. 17 and 18 come and go. I graduated High School after a few tough years of bullying and I couldn't be more excited to be done.
Before I know it I'm 19 and become diagnosed with Anorexia Nervosa. As if things couldn't get worse, I was shipped out to Chandler, Arizona where I attended an intense 2 months of rehab at Remuda Ranch Treatment Center. I met the most inspirational people, gained a whole new perspective and was able to come home after I climbed back into the "healthy zone". I was officially 20 and this is when I met Garrett. He knew my problems and he didn't care. So, now I'm taken. After a few relapses with Anorexia, a few more inpatient and outpatient treatments, and over two years of being together, we had a doctor appointment for an annual weigh-in as well as a cancer screening. Congratulations, you don't have breast cancer and congratulations YOU'RE PREGNANT!
My life was flipped upside down once again, but that meant- INSTANT recovery. I gave Garrett my cigarettes, I stopped taking my prescription pills, and as hard as it was, I started eating. And not only eating, but eating correctly. You know, like normal people do. And it was weird, and hard, and I struggled more than I like to admit, but I did it because I already loved that little baby more than anything. 19 weeks pregnant and IT'S A BOY!
Everything was moving so quickly. All of a sudden our life was baby, baby, baby! Setting up the nursery, baby shopping, my baby shower, ultrasounds, doctor appointments, pregnant holidays, being a college student, all while trying to stay as healthy as possible. We blink twice and were suddenly in the home stretch! I'm 39 weeks pregnant and my contractions are crazy. Then, February 12, 2014 @ 9:42pm Mason Michael is welcomed into this world weighing a whopping 8lbs 12oz and 22 inches long.
Not only did I survive pregnancy, I survived pregnancy fully recovered and was rewarded with the most beautiful baby boy I could have ever imagined. He was our angel and is now our favorite part about every day. You're almost caught up- don't worry. After a few sleepless nights and a hundred of diaper changes later, I got to celebrate my very first Mother's Day. I had to work (so I was bummed) but I came home to an evening planned by Garrett and it revolved all around Mason, my favorite! We take a walk down town and while an acoustic guitarist plays "Wanted" by Hunter Hayes, Garrett gets down on one knee in front of a huge crowd and proposes!
After the engagement we moved to Lake Havasu City, Arizona! Across the country move is hard, but making it with a newborn, while planning a wedding is even harder. But we did it, we made it, and we love it here. Once February rolled around, Valentine's Day to be exact, we decided on spur of the moment, to get married at our local church with only our close friends and family as witnesses. (Whole separate post about that here). YES, we are technically married, and YES we are still planning our BIG ceremony and reception that is in August!

That is just a tiny look into our happily hectic lives, and I hope you stick around and enjoy the rest of our journey with us.
